1  General / Lounge & Off Topic Discussions / i930 {REAL~PICS} on: December 24, 2004, 07:05:34 pm
There is no official word on the launch of the i930. The product was rumored to be available fourth quarter 2004.  I knew about the i860 and had a launch date three months before launch. There is still no offical launch date. The phone may not hit the shelves. Nextel and sprint are merging. Nextel service will migrate to CDMA and iDen will phase out.

Here is your pic....

2  TekniWAP Support / Ideas & Suggestions / having email address added on the text pager on: December 24, 2004, 05:44:12 pm
the solution is the i860.

the i860 messaging service in built into the operating system and not a web page.  You can send messages from the Contacts menu.
3  TekniWAP Support / Ideas & Suggestions / IRC on: December 24, 2004, 05:40:51 pm
That would have to be a Java app.
The down side to that is the usage on that side can generate an aditional charge.

Your best bet would be to stick to instant messaging or sms.
4  TekniWAP Support / Ideas & Suggestions / This site needs live support or chat! on: December 24, 2004, 05:32:42 pm
Live support??

How can you even ask for that?  Do you think that the people that know this stuff have no life.  You probably don't realize how much money it takes to setup a live support service.
think about it.....
Human Recources
you would need a group of people to staff the que
nobody will listen to nagging customers for free
now you need some one to manage the group
you need some one monitor quality

Web site
increased bandwidth requirements
thier would be a need for creating a payment system.
need for secure website to take the payment.

management
what are the hours of operation going to be?
when is the highest volume going to be?
how much wil the initial setup cost?
how much is reasonable for cost of this service?
how long will it take to break even?

the customer
will the customer pay for support?
   - probably not... they dont want to pay for anything else. why start now.

Josh you are a dumb @$$!  You should be greatfull that a forum exists.

6  TekniWAP Support / Support / Nwbie question???? on: October 03, 2004, 07:37:17 pm
both are unbilled by nextel

net alert is basically a link sent to your phone.

text pager is a text message sender.

Text messaging can generate an aditional charge.
7  TekniWAP Support / Support / Text Messaging Express Question! on: October 03, 2004, 07:02:50 pm
Two way express will give you an IP address.  Once you have an IP address....
Menu
   Net
      Nextel.com
           Sub ID

Any text messages sent to you phone will be charged. If the message is sent to tekniwap nextel wont know and thier will be no charge from nextel.

sending a text message from tekniwap is just filling out a web form. Nextel does not charge to fill out web forms.

I dont have a solution however it is better to send the messages for nextel to number@messaging.nextel.com. any messages sent to page.nextel.com is charged 15 cents per message.
10  TekniWAP Support / Support / Newbi questions on: September 22, 2004, 11:59:40 pm
sending the text message through tekni is free....
if you have two way messaging premier it is free to send sms using standard two way messaging. If you dont hav it Nextel will charge you.
11  TekniWAP Support / Support / Re: Auto -forwarding text message, from nextel to tekniwap e on: September 21, 2004, 02:04:51 am

is there a way that i can setup an autofwding feature so that everyone who send me a text to my nextel using my#@messaging.nextel.com
can be forwarded to my teknidude account, so i can use the free incoming text and outgoin

Unfortunatly thier is no way to auto forward text messages.  You an manually forward the messages but then it would be 10 cents to recieve and 10 cents to send. If nextel had a forward then it would probably bill you like that too. I would just have other people use your tekni address.
12  TekniWAP Support / Support / Newbi questions on: September 21, 2004, 01:57:41 am
net alerts are free....

sending messages via tekni wap is just like filling out a web form (Nextel cant tell the difference.
For the most part text messages are email messages. If it is sent to you phone directly then Nextel can trak that.. If you use you phone to check  external email Nextel does not chsrge you for a text message.
13  TekniWAP Support / Support / Net Alert Questions on: September 21, 2004, 12:37:57 am
If I view the net alert my phone will delete it after a power cycle. It deletes it after it reads the contacts on the sim card.  I use 2 batteries so I never plug in my i730 fo charging and swap batteries for charging.
What software version are you running?  I am using the latest sofware for i730A (R0A.00.09).

I figured out how to keep them...
"Lock" net alert..... Press menu key on the net alert then selet lock.
14  TekniWAP Support / Support / New way to get an IP for free from Nextel. on: September 21, 2004, 12:14:10 am
Due to all the GPS fuctionality issues with Falcon (3-digit) model phones Nextel is giving everyone an IP. Nextel is doing this via a back-end script.
The feature that is being added is: PDSGPSFIX. I am not sure exatly when this will hapen.... I am not sure how the system is identifing Falcon phones. If it is using the SIM then it will need to end in 310. If you are using an older sim card in your phone you will probably not get the IP.

Edit: also, since you are a nextel support guy, i have an old i60 and it seems to have broken the flip because i opended and closed it soo much, i have the i730 now, and i have the protection plan, could i throw my sim in my old i60 then bring it to a nextel place and have them fix the i60 then put my sim back in my i730 then give my i60 to my cousin so he can have a better phone? he has that 25 dollar cheap phone

You could probably get ayay with that...  no garentees...
