have you tried accessing the netalert page from you phone directly and asking it to send from the phone since if the sub-ID is not exact then it will not send to you, also if they unprovision and reprovision your phone your sub-id changes.

nextboy360 I think you are confused Nextel charges .10 per Text Message not Net alerts;

Net alerts were designed so that Nextel can message you and also send links to upgrades and such without sending you an SMS (Text Message) since the net alerts can be designed to jump you to an off-site facility.

I have been using net-alert/tekniwap for more then 2 years and never received a bill from Nextel for using it.

Net alerts are a thing made for the "moto" phones so that the providors can link you to downloads and updates on your phone so that you don't have to visit a Service center if they want something pushed to your phone

does your computer detect that it now has a new USB device namely the Nextel phone attached since if windows hardware does not detect it then the software does not know how to talk to it.

sometimes if you have the phone connected and power cycle the phone it will signal the computer for communications request

I have been an old member and i have never been charged by NexHell for even the 1st message since the way the message is sent is not an SMS
13  TekniWAP Support / Support / Re: How to get Sub ID w/o any Internet Service from Nextel on: December 05, 2005, 12:02:12 am
as long as you get them to turn on pay as you go Messaging "SMS" then you will be provisioned an IP address and SubID the only problem then is anyone can send you an SMS and you will get hit with a 10 cent charge per SMS.

Sometimes you have to power cycle your phone to get it to pull the SubID IP information from the cell network.

also i had to have my IP turned off for a few days since someone was SMS spaming Viruses to our company Cell Phones, but in doing so we had the offendor's cell phone cut off from there vendor

I have never been charged for the netalerts since, as long as you have the pay as you go MSG turned on then you are good to go, since nextel is not going to charge for netalerts since they use it to send updated to your phone browser and other things as well.
