I just bought a usb data cable and read that you can use your phone as a modem. I have a boost i205 with the internet enabled. I did everything and donated already and I am wondering would I still be able to use the phone as a modem? Just to clarify doing all this stuff to my phone gets me free internet right? So I should call boost and cancel the internet? Would I still be able to use my phone as a modem after I cancel?

Using your phone as a modem is a real pain in the @$$.  YOu can do it however.  You have to go to the motorola/iden site and download the connection agent or something of that sort, i forgot what they are calling it now.  I will help you establish a connection from your phone to your computer to go online!

I'd be interested in hearing this answer also. I tried doing that by dialing up to my ISP account (free nights & weekends) but it errored out. Am I able to connect to the internet from my laptop via 1730 and USB cable using Tekniwap?

TekniWAP is only available on the phone's browser.
It doesnt have anything to do with the dial-up service.

The free internet thing is only for your phone's internal web browser, not the dial-up.
Certain plans come with the dial-up option on your account but for everyone else it's $10 a month.

I'm not sure how Boost's dial-up works but when I set up my Nextel for dial-up, I had to call up and activate it.

Maybe someone with boost could explain better...

You are right about the Dialup. The feature they give you that makes it work @$$igns another "Dial-up" phone number for you phone. It is just about as slow as an old 19,200 baud modem, so i dont know that it is worth all the trouble for a 20 dollar cable and then 10 a month just to be able to do it, while still needing a third party internet vendor for you to dial into. You would be better off playing for internet and using the TekniWAP alerts to visit mobile sites if possible.

I am just trying to understand what you are saying because I am interested in using my i730 as a modem as well.  I just want to use it for when I am on vacation and times like that with a dial up service like netzero.  Are you saying that you have to pay an extra ten bucks a month through nextel in order to use your phone as a modem with a third party dial up service?  Please respond if anyone knows this for sure.  Also does it have to be a usb cable or could you do it with a serial cable?
