Title: How does this work?
Post by: Fubar on February 22, 2004, 01:21:41 am
I have an IP, presumably because I am a new Nextel customer and they needed to send some info to my phone.

I do not have the ability to use the built in browser to download ringtones (I get a server error)

Yet using this site, I can access the entire internet - apparently without incurring any additional charges from Nextel.

My question is, why does this work?

When you activate a new account with nextel, your phone has the internet enabled for about 30 days.
That's just so they can send the phone updates.  After the 30 days is up, its not gonna work anymore.

Even though the phone has no home page, you can send it links that allow allow you to go anywhere. :)

yes you can visit any site or ip address without charge as long as the site or ip you are visiting is not a pay service
