Title: Net Alerts Disappearing?
Post by: nate7358 on November 22, 2003, 10:31:54 pm
It gets annoying.  I'll look at my phone the next day after setting up my net alert box with bookmarks and everything is gone.  I always lock the alerts but they just disappear.  Anybody know why this happens or how I can prevent this?

Also is there a wap site that I can go to save additional bookmarks?

To prevent this you should use the TekniWap Custom links, then you will never loose them.

That would be a good idea if I never left the house.  What good are the custom links if I have no bookmark to the TekniWap site and I'm out on the road?

I only recall this happening when you replace your battery. How long have you had your battery? Maybe it’s time to replace it. I’ve had mine for months and never had a problem like this.

Also, how many are you trying to bookmark?

That happens on the phones with the older software.
Try updating the phone with IdenUpdate. You won't lose them ever again. (Unless you swap SIM cards.)

Also, if you have the Go to feature on the main Net page of your phone,
you can type in teknidude and it will send the phone to TekniWAP.
Once there, hit About and then Mark.

Okay, I've figured it out.  For one reason or another, I was having problems with the browser.  It would say, "html converter out of memory," or some other stupid message.  So I would then restart the browser and lose all my net alerts.  I know it's not the battery because I tried pulling it out while the phone was on but the alerts were still there.  And my phone can't have old software because it's an i730.  Also, I don't have the Go to feature or else I wouldn't be complaining.  Yesterday I had to call my brother at home, tell him my sub-id, and send me an alert from teknidude.com.

On another note, would anybody happen to know why the html converter ran out of memory?  Would it have anything to do with the 8 net alerts I had locked on my phone?

I just sent, to my phone, 8 alerts. Now it didn’t say memory low until the 8th alert came through.

I would recommend in your case to use the custom links.

The browsers memory might be shared with the net alerts.
I would use the custom links to free up your memory.
That way you would only have one net alert, and more memory available to the browser... I think :?:

I know this post is old, but im sure there are people like me still browsing the old posts. Now you can add TekniWAP to your menu. Jason or any other admin, is that a forbidden topic, or has it just not been brought up around here yet?
